I’m Back

I thought I was through with all the inane horse shit that I read about… but sometimes certain things trigger such a rage inside my mind… that it would be a sin to not speak out… and this time it’s not all about that idiot Trump

The first trigger was about what’s become of our society in this techno-age of ours… people have come to rely on the smallest part of it to become LAZY… there are some on social media who have stopped relying on the two most informative sites… Google and Wikipedia… for information… instead… they rely on the half-truths and hoaxes perpetrated by their friends on that mediait’s like the blind trying to lead the blind

Here’s an example… at CES 2017

French startup Spinali Design has created jeans that will vibrate on your right or left hip to let you know which direction you should head instead of your phone’s GPS

Not silly enough for you yet… the company also has bikinis that will buzz when you’re out in the sun too long and need to apply more sunscreen lotion

My question is simply… “WTF happened to common sense?!?”

Trigger #2-

I recently saw this photo and was stunned… WTFGIs of the 1940s were role models for mebrave citizens who went to war to prevent foreign countries from overrunning the world with their barbaric methods of control and ideologies…

Who the f**k is this ‘pajama boy’… and just who is he supposed to inspire… if I had to guess… it’s the millennials in the crowd… those who would rather talk about what to do… than GET OFF THEIR COLLECTIVE ASSES AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING

Let’s put it in a better prospective for you… lets say that ‘pajama boy’ was the role model for my generation… the generation that fought in this country’s least popular conflict… Vietnam… where do you think we would be now… here’s a hint… Bạn sẽ là dưới sự cai trị VietNam (You would be under Vietnamese rule)

Trigger #3-

Republicans Are Hiding The Staggering Cost Of Obamacare Repeal—Now We Know Why…

As the clock ticks closer to Donald Trump being inaugurated presidentRepublicans are ramping up their efforts to repeal Obamacare… they are determined to have the repeal done before the year is outdespite the fact they have no replacement ready to implement… while this debate takes place… the GOP is also determined to hide the cost of repeal from the public

A report from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University and the Commonwealth Fund estimates 2.6 million jobs would be lost in the year 2019 and most of those would be private sector job losses… in addition… if Republicans are unable to come up with a reasonable replacement for Obamacare“…there will be a cumulative $1.5 trillion loss in gross state products and a $2.6 trillion reduction in business output from 2019 to 2023…”

Of the millions of jobs lost… only one-third are in the healthcare industry… the majority of job losses would be in other areas of the economy… such as constructionretail and finance a repeal of the Medicaid expansion would cost nearly 1.5 million jobs in 2019 alonethe 31 states that accepted the Medicaid expansion would be hit particularly hard by this economic downturn, according to the study…

Reports like these give us a clear explanation as to why Republicans are so interested in hiding the cost of their actions

Okay… I’ve said my peace for now… now let’s get to other news that might interest you-

Let’s wrap up this week’s tidbits with this… I call it… It’s the Law

Japan – Illegal To Be Fat

Being fat has its ups and down. Some of you might read this and wonder, “How can being fat have any ups whatsoever?” Well, the answer is quite simple — if you fall down, you’ll bounce right back up. However, there is a sad truth that comes with being overweight, as your weight grows to a towering height, your self-esteem turns to shreds.

Unlike America, Japan sees obesity as a crime. Why should one civilian be two or three times the size of another? Why should one starve while the other gorges on anything he can get his grubby little hands on? Japan came up with this law with the hopes on lowering obesity and health care costs. A Japanese man cannot have a circumference greater than 33½” and a Japanese woman cannot surpass a waist line of 35½”. If you break the law, not only will you be fined and forced to go to the gym, but your employer will be fined as well.

A French Town Perched Above A ‘Hole’

Trou de Bozouls, or ‘the hole of Bozouls’, is a large horseshoe-shaped canyon located near the commune of Bozouls in the Aveyron department in southern France. The meander was dug out in the limestone by the erosive action of running water of the Dourdou river as it flows through the large limestone plateau of Causse Comtal in Massif Central. The canyon is 400m across and more than 100m deep. The most striking feature of this natural monument is the town of Bozouls perched right at the edge of the bend.

A Rant with Two Purposes

First… I need to advise you that the language in this rant will not… for the most part… be edited… it needs to be strong to bring out the points attempting to be made… if strong language offends youthen skip this rant

You will recall that last week I gave my rating (a Must See List 10Q) of the film The Birth of a Nation… it was the story of Nat Turner… the negro slave who led a rebellion of slaves and free blacks in Southampton County, Virginia on August 21, 1831

The rebellion lasted just over 2 weeks resulting in the deaths of 55-65 white people… men… women and children… a militia formed after the rebellion sought retaliation and killed over 200 black people… men… women and children… sometimes lynching groups of 10-15 at-a-time together…

This is factit is history… I studied about this rebellion in my American History classes… nothing was left out… probably because I attended a Catholic school which was not bound by the curriculum constraints of a public school board system… it wasn’t taught as white history… nor black historyit was American history

I was contacted by a woman from Mississippi… just outside Biloxi… who expressed her views on my rating… a heated 2-day email exchange took place over which I found out more about the woman… I don’t usually publish a person’s name… but in this case it warrants the full extent of my wrath to do so… she is Bobbi Jo Jefferson

She is 32… white… has 3 children who are home-schooled by a neighbor… her husband works on a gulf oil rig… neither have more than a high school education… and they both voted for Donald Trump… all I had to do to get this information was push the right buttons… her ego took over from there

Her initial statement to me was… “Who the f**k was I to tell her what she ‘must see’ as far as movies go…” she would not accept my explanation that it was ‘my opinion’ and not a command to all who read my brief rating… she also made a statement that in Mississippi“…they don’t teach their kids about dead niggers…”

So let me make myself perfectly clear about my movie ratings… A-G-A-I-N… these are my opinionsmy brief observations… they are in no way published as a directive or order for you to follow… you can disagree with them if you please… that is your right… but don’t jump my ass if you disagree… or your name may grace these pages…

Now for the purposes (which I hope by now you will have surmised)… one purpose is to show you that there are still people out there who don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground… they are bigots inciting future bigotry in their own children… yet they want ‘peace on Earth’ at this time of year… HYPOCRITES

The other is to show you what the mentality is… of what I believe the majority of the people who voted for Donald Trump… and still believe he is going to ‘save America’… yet they won’t admit that much of what he has already done… or said he would do… will… in the minds of many scholarsbring America to its knees in front of the entire world

That’s the end of the rant… here are some other things that might interest you…

The scariest video I’ve seen this week:

If that wasn’t enough… then take a look at the following list… if all these that need to be approved by the Senate make it throughthen I sincerely believe that America will soon become a nation of anarchy… if this is making “America Great Again”… I for one hope it fails…

Adjusted to be slighter brighter at the ends of their arcs, the concentric star trails centered on the North Celestial Pole are a reflection of Earth’s rotation around its axis. Close to the horizon at Hawaiian latitudes, Polaris, the North Star, makes the shortest star trail.

A Short Rant to Start the Year

In consideration of media misrepresentation… that is a sore subject with me… and it was compounded on 12/22/16 when Amanda Macias of the Business Insider reported a story with the headline: Trump-1, Boeing-0… (it couldn’t have been further from the truth)… she claims it was Trumps intervention with Boeing ranting and raving about the excessive costs of the ‘new Air Force One’

Trump complained that the $4billon+ cost was excessive and he wouldn’t award Boeing the contract… (the President doesn’t have the power to award contracts under ‘conflict-of-interest regulations’)… Boeing explained that the costs are over the 20-year ‘life’ of the program and were only an estimate… projections indicate the program wouldn’t come near that estimate…

Apparently Trump is relying on potential Education Secretary Betsy De Voss’ help with Core Mathematics to NOT REALIZE the wording of the contract… or it’s projected lifespan… (do the math for yourself… or in case you’re TOO LAZY… the estimated cost would be about $200million/year)…

And on top of all that… 3 scary as hell ways to start off the new year… and he hasn’t even been sworn into office yet… what could possibly happen after he is…

The recognizable profile of the Pelican Nebula soars nearly 2,000 light-years away in the high flying constellation Cygnus, the Swan. Also known as IC 5070, this interstellar cloud of gas and dust is appropriately found just off the ‘east coast’ of the North America Nebula (NGC 7000), another surprisingly familiar looking emission nebula in Cygnus. Both Pelican and North America nebulae are part of the same large and complex star forming region, almost as nearby as the better-known Orion Nebula. From our vantage point, dark dust clouds (upper left) help define the Pelican’s eye and long bill, while a bright front of ionized gas suggests the curved shape of the head and neck.

A Crater Called the Nördlinger Ries

The town of Nordlingen in the Donau-Ries district of Bavaria, Germany, is unlike any other town in the district. In fact, it’s unlike any other town on the whole planet. This pretty medieval town, with a population of 20,000, is situated entirely inside a massive meteorite crater 25km across. This crater was formed some 14.5 million years ago when a meteor about a mile across slammed into Earth. It was only less than fifty years ago that evidence emerged which established the true origin of this town.

The ‘swimming hole’ at Puerto de Mito

There are a couple of islands near Puerto Vallarta, just off the northern point (Punta de Mita) of Banderas Bay, called the Marietas Islands. It is riddled with caverns and caves. Today, you are not allowed on land as it is a protected bird sanctuary. But by water, many tour boats regularly bring people who especially want to see the beach in the photo. You enter it by swimming through a cave; quite easy at low tide, a little scary at high tide when there are waves as well. Once you’ve made it through though, you’ve got half of a beach, open to the sky, and surrounded by steep walls. It is really quite beautiful and extraordinary.

Covering a classic rock song is tricky business. If you don’t do anything new with it, then it’ll just sound like amateur hour. If you change it too much, however, then you lose what made people like the song in the first place. This cover of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick In The Wall, played on a traditional Korean gayageum, is the perfect blend of both.

NASA’s Astronomy Photo of the Day

The Cartwheel Galaxy from Hubble

Because of its outward oval appearance, the presence of a central galaxy and their connection with what looks like the spokes of a wheel, the galaxy on the right is known as the Cartwheel Galaxy. To others, however, it looks like a complicated interaction between galaxies awaiting explanation. Along with the two galaxies on the left, the Cartwheel is part of a group of galaxies about 400,000,000 light-years away in the constellation Sculptor. The large galaxy’s rim spans over 100,000 light-years and is composed of star forming regions filled with extremely bright and massive stars.
