This little guy is NOT Related to… John Legend (singer/songwriter)… REALLY!!!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Time seems to have slowed down in Gari’s Mind this week… it seems like every day takes hours and hours to go by… and all the little things that make it usually seem to fly by have slowed from their ‘warp speed’ down to slow-motion

I had noticed that an insurance premium from Aetna had not been deducted from my bank account on the usual day… they explained that they sometimes run late… when the final day of when it should have been deducted came and went and had not been done I called them back…

Big Oops… I had thought the premium was being deducted directly from my checking account… but Aetna had no record of my bank’s routing number nor my account number… the agent said it was a debit paymentcrapola… that debit card had expired when I activated my new card from the bank

I gave them the info they needed and the premium payment was deducted… now I won’t have to pay $1400 for my next Victoza prescription

TrainStation issued a new era in the game… Hyperloop… and most players went ape shit over the fact that the first few train sets cost Gems and not just GoldGold is the commodity we earn during the gameGems we have to buy with our cold hard cash

When I posted on Facebook that I had ‘purchased’ both Hyperloop trains and still had Gems left over… they went ape-shit again… all they do on Facebook is piss and moan about what they don’t have instead of looking for ways to get what they need… and then get pissed off when I try to share with them how I did it… go figure…

I tried another new menu item at Sarah’s Kitchen in the Sunset Klondike CasinoLoco Moco… for those not in the know… it is a dish in the contemporary cuisine of Hawaii… there are many variations… but the traditional Loco Moco consists of steamed white rice topped with a hamburger patty… a fried egg and brown gravy.

Since I’m a loyal regular customer… every Tuesday for lunch and most Fridays for dinner… they obliged me by switching the brown gravy for country gravy… I also had them scramble my eggs… I thought it would only have a ¼lb burger but they use a ½lb burger instead… $7.95… I brought half home…

I went back again on Friday night… St. Patrick’s Day… and enjoyed a fantastic traditionally prepared Corned Beef Dinner… even though I had bought 2 corned beefs at Smith’s (they were on sale) the week before… the meal was topped with a complimentary Green Draft Beer$5.95

Everyone there from Executive Chef Harris… down to the busboy all ask how Nancy is doing with her chemo and transplant…

Do you really have to ask why I keep going there?!?

Trumpism’ at the Community Level

A Pennsylvania family thought building a hockey rink in the backyard was the solution for keeping the kids active during the winter… “…we want a space for them to just get outside and get some exercise and kind of bring back the old school fun that we had when we were kids…” until town officials told them to tear it down…

This is the second winter the Beam family made a hockey rink, but it didn’t sit well with South Middleton Township authorities this year… in a letter to the family the township engineer said the rink was a violation…

“A drainage easement is located on your property. By placing objects and fences that block the water, such as the skating rink constructed on your property, the amount of storage available is reduced and the basin will not function as designed.”

Anybody else wonder why it took the council two years to decide this was an obstruction… sounds to me like they are exerting their ‘Trump-ability’

– – – – – – – – – –

Trump’s Budget Plan

Trump has unveiled a ‘skinny budget’ that calls for a major boost in spending on defense and border security.. while slashing funds spent on foreign aidenvironmental protectionpublic housingmedical researcharts and humanities and programs Trump feels are a poor use of taxpayer money

Mick Mulvaneydirector of the Office of Management and Budget… described Trump’s spending blueprint as “…the America-first budget…” in a briefing for reporters… “…We wrote it using the president’s own words…”

The ‘skinny budget’ is typically sent to Congress by first-year presidents who haven’t had the time or staff to develop a full budget request… which the White House normally delivers to Congress by early February (he’s over a month late)… most provisions would have to be approved by Congress… with legislation involving cutbacks likely to be highly contentious

Highly contentiousnow that’s an understatement… besides wanting to endanger not only our health and welfare… he is attacking the world’s… and what’s this bullshit about “…any he feels are poor use of taxpayer money…” that’s ludicrous… it seems to me that neither Trump nor anyone in his administration has any comprehension of the ramifications and implications of his ‘skinny budget’

– – – – – – – – – –

This is Appalling

Really… in Front of the Kids?!?

A father of four was arrested and taken away by US immigration officials in front of his 13-year-old daughter as he was dropping her off to schoolTrump’s hard-line stance on immigration has seen undocumented immigrants being detained and deported since his inauguration…

Under the Trump’s immigration enforcement directives undocumented immigrants who “…have been convicted of any criminal offence… including those who have abused any program related to receipt of public benefits…” can be deported…

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement Mr Avelica “…was targeted for arrest because relevant databases indicate he has multiple prior criminal convictions…” citing a conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) in 2009 and an outstanding order of removal dating back from 2014

If this isn’t racial profiling… I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS!!!

Snippets Here and There…

Almost no children in France are medicated for ADHD…

France defines ADHD as a sociological disorder that’s caused by a set of social situations… whereas the US sees ADHD as a neurological disorder whose symptoms are the result of biological dysfunction or a chemical imbalance in the brain. France’s definition of ADHD drastically differs from that of the US, which is in part because the pharmaceutical industry helped define ADHD in the US.

Very rarely do French psychiatrists prescribe medications to treat ADHD… as it’s usually rendered unnecessary after taking a more holistic approach including studying the behavioral problems by searching for the underlying causes such as the child’s social situations and eating habitsthen treating the causes with psychotherapy or even family counseling… and it works…

Ain’t it grand when ‘Big Pharma’ has a hand in defining something only they feel only they can ‘cure’?!?

– – – – –

WTF?!?

Congress hasn’t figured out how to pay for it yet… but more than 350 companies world-wide have told the Trump administration they’re interested in working on the controversial border-wall project… the US Customs and Border Protection agency said it would likely put out a formal request in mid-March “…for the design and build of several prototype wall structures…” that leaves the field wide open allowing companies to suggest what the structure should look like and be made of

So if I read that correctly… we’re going to waste time and money determining the design and materials for ‘The Wall’… and perhaps some foreign entity will be taking our hard earned tax dollars to protect us from Mexico… dare I say it… BULLSHIT!!!

– – – – –

Breathe Deeply… Now Cough…

The Trump administration would slash programs aimed at slowing climate change and improving water safety and air quality, while eliminating thousands of jobs, according to a draft of the Environmental Protection Agency budget proposal… under the tentative plan from the Office of Management and Budget the agency’s funding would be reduced by roughly 25% and about 3,000 jobs would be cut which is about 20% of the agency’s staff

So let me ask this… how is this going to make America great again by deleting jobs and tampering with our environment… and how much of Washington’s power is being given back to us with this asinine plan

– – – – – – – – – –

On the Lighter Side… Because Sometimes You Just Gotta Laugh…

Peter Principle Defined… 2017…

I promised myself that I wouldn’t allow myself to let the news of today’s inane and stooooopid government… especially ‘Emperor Trump’… bother me anymore… as an individual I really can’t accomplish much at ridding us of all that and I’m sure by now you are all tired of listening to my rants…

And then as I took another bite of my Nutty Nuggets (that’s Kroger’s brand for Grape Nuts) and Blackberries it dawned on me… all of us who have criticized Trump for his actions after his inauguration are WRONGallow me to explain

First… the oath that Trump took as designated in the US Constitution reads: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Second… the origin and definition of the term ‘Peter Principle’ is stated as: A concept in management theory formulated by Laurence J. Peter and published in 1969. It states that the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate’s performance in their current role, rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively and “…managers rise to the level of their incompetence…”

Unfortunately for America… the ‘best of his ability’ is happening… he is doing his best… however… his best is a far cry from the full implication of what most people believe that statement to mean… we can’t help it that his ‘best’ is not our best

He has definitely risen to the utmost level of his incompetencenow you may laugh until you piss your pants

– – – – –

Congress Had to Tell Donald Trump to Stop Deleting His Tweets…

Donald Trump might be done tweeting and deleting… at least if he listens to Congress… just last this week two members of Congress sent the White House a letter warning them that Trump and his staff might be violating federal law when they delete tweets from the president’s official accounts…

The letter warns that tweets from both the @realDonaldTrump and the official @POTUS accounts “…are likely to be presidential records and therefore must be preserved…” if those deleted tweets aren’t archived then Trump and his staff could be violating the Presidential Records Act

I guess The Donald doesn’t read that well… at least not the Presidential Records Act

Youth in Oregon ~ This masterpiece from the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival can be very difficult to watch for some… yet I could not turn away… it’s the subject matter of euthanasia portrayed at its best… but very last second is well worth the viewing time with commanding performances by all… I give it a ‘slice of life’ Must See 10Q

In Dubious Battle ~ 1930s California only as John Steinbeck can describe it… only as James Franco can present it… powerful commanding performances by a star filled cast with all their characteristic nuances… I give it a welcome to Depression Era California fields 9.5Q

Before-and-After Photos of Winter’s Beautiful Transformations

Compiled from: BoredPanda.com

In the northern hemisphere winter brings a whole bunch of seasonal changes. The leaves are gone and the trees are naked, the grass is hidden beneath the snow and the ducks in the ponds are ice-skating instead of swimming. The landscape is barely recognisable when compared to the summer months and as you can see from these pictures, many places look incredibly different when juxtaposed against pictures of the opposite season.

Remembering the Birthday Anniversary of my momAngelina (3/11/1922 – 11/1/1987)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

So what since the last post?!? My birthday came and went rather uneventfully… the boys had to postpone celebrating with me until this last week because of prior unchangeable plans… but I did buy myself a nice birthday present

Since I cut the cable ‘apron strings’ I have looked and looked for better ways to make things easier on Nancy… and while downloading TV series isn’t difficult… lately they have been chopped off before the final scenes finish…

So I purchased a Channel Master+ 2-channel DVR System… this will enable Nancy to view her favorite shows and record others at the same time… and with the add-on external hard drive she will have more than enough storage space… I get along with viewing movies through my Amazon Fire Stick I too will enjoy watching TV Series as we did before when we had DirecTV

It was worth the expenditure to help make this easier for her…

The other item on my agenda was to send out the preliminary notices to the family for Easter Dinner… I am making my usual signature Caramel Brown Sugar-glazed Ham… but the second one will be a Fresh Ham… not a Smoked Ham… I have also teased them with a surprise appetizer… and a surprise dessert… like them… you too will have to wait to hear about the surprises…

I can give you this spoiler about themyou have seen them at some time in the past months featured in the old Daily Post… unless you memorized all those posts you probably won’t guess what I’m making… what’s that… you’ll just go back through the archives…

OoopsI deleted all of them

Good bye Oakland Raiders… Hello Las Vegas Raiders

What the Hell is This B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T?!?

The Keystone XL oil pipeline does not need to be made from U.S. steel despite an executive order by Trump days after he took office requiring domestic steel in new pipelines the White House said on last Friday… White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders stated: “It’s specific to new pipelines or those that are being repaired. Since this one is already currently under construction, the steel is already literally sitting there, it’s hard to go back. Everything moving forward would fall under that executive order.”

I didn’t hear anything about that when Trump brought forth the order… implying all pipelines… I guess to please his many minions…

Does He Even Understand International Business Principles?!?

Donald Trump tried to turn Harley Davidson into the poster child for America’s bad trade deals… but it was Trump who scrapped the deal that Harley itself said could have fixed its problems

In his address to Congress… Trump said the Milwaukee-based company expressed concern that its motorcycles – famously made in the USA – faced punitive tariffs as high as 100% in overseas markets…. the company sells more than a third of its motorcycles outside the United States

Trump stated: “They told me – without even complaining… because they have been mistreated for so long that they have become used to it – that it is very hard to do business with other countries because they tax our goods at such a high rate.”

That’s one reason Harley chief executive Matt Levatich publicly supported the Trans-Pacific Partnership a sweeping 12-nation free trade agreement that was to be former President Barack Obama’s signature initiative in Asia… but the deal turned politically toxic during a presidential election that was defined by frustration among blue-collar workers left behind by decades of globalization

Among his first executive actions was to formally end the United States’s participation in the deal. Trump took credit for putting the final nail in the would-be trading bloc’s coffin: “We have withdrawn the United States from the job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

W-H-A-T T-H-E F-U-C-K!!! Trade partnerships actually increase job fulfillment… they create a global arena for the sale of goods… and when foreign nations impose high tariffsthat doesn’t stem production here… they are imposed and only effect the buyer… and guess what… if they want the product… they will pay the price… no matter what it is…

And guess what… that happens here as well… tariffs are imposed by the importers and passed on to the buying public by the retailers… whether they be vehicles… clothing… building supplies… construction and medical equipment… or food products… and just like our foreign neighbors we pay the price…

So when you look at the bottom line… Harley Davidson just got the royal shaft… by the very man who said he was going to give us a greater America… he just doesn’t have a fucking clue… DOES HE?!?

This is Appalling

The Stratospheric Cost of Trump’s Economic Plan…

Does anyone besides me think something is very wrong with this?!? Trump wants to “…restart the engine of the American economy…” and he’s gradually rolling out the details of how he plans to do that… in his recent speech before Congress he outlined several economic proposals he wants Congress to pursue… with more detail due when he presents a budget outline in mid-March (I guess his minions haven’t figured it out for him yet)

Here are the big programs Trump has proposed with estimated costs and some handicapping on their odds of passing:

Tax reform– Calls for “…historic tax reform that will reduce the tax rate on our companies and massive tax relief for the middle class…” with no formal plan yet… but the blueprint he unveiled as a candidate would reduce federal revenue by $700 billion per year

Congress can’t balance the budget as it is… how is $700 billion/year less gonna help…

Boost defense spending– Trump aides say they want to boost the defense budget by 10%… which would be $54 billion per year… and include tax on imports

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says a tax plan that includes an import tax “…won’t get 10 votes in the Senate…”

Infrastructure– Trump wants to spend a whopping $1 trillion on roads… bridges and other public projects over a decade… with some of that funded by private investors and some by taxpayers…

Don’t think this will fly… that only works for projects with tolls or other user fees and many projects don’t fit the profileplus it’s controversial when private investors profit from public assets such as roads

Repeal and replace Obamacare– The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare actually reduces federal deficits by at least $14 billion per yearpartly through new taxes on high earners and some corporations… Trump doesn’t have a replacement plan yet… but if he repeals those taxes he’ll add to deficits by the same amount…

Oops… there goes a bigger hole that needs to be filled…

Border wall– the cost is estimated to be at least $21 billion… and Mexico ain’t gonna pay as Trump promised he’d make them do…

Sooooo… we dig into our pockets again…

And other ambiguous plans include more spending on “…veterans… education vouchers for the poor and other things…” no details were given so these costs are unknown

Those few tax cuts and spending hikes would add something like $800 billion to the national debt each year… on top of annual deficits of at least $500 billion that are already in the cards… so in the best case… the annual deficit if Trump got his way would be $1.3 trillionCLOSE TO THE BIGGEST DEFICIT EVER!!!

Don’t give up though… there is a glimmer of hope… if ‘The Donald’ listens…

He has said he won’t cut Social Security or Medicare while also talking about expanded Medicaid for the poor… and there is a source of revenue that could help Congress even the playing field… the “…non-defense discretionary…” portion of the budget as the only pot Trump can tap ($561 billion in 2016)… and interest payments…

I still have two questions for Trump and all his minions… “How is this going to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?!?” and “How is this taking the power in Washington and GIVING IT BACK TO THE PEOPLE?!?”

– – – – – – – – – –

Boeing Co has accepted 1,880 voluntary layoffs from its union machinists and engineers in the Seattle area the unions said on Thursday… part of the jet maker’s drive to cut costs through job reductions and other measures… in order to operate more efficiently and profitably

I guess ‘The Donald’ really didn’t do so well in getting the price of Air Force One lowered…

Oops… what just happened?

Lots of websites last Tuesday loaded slowly… or not at all… including Business Insider… the reason was that Amazon Web Services… a server product from Amazon that powers a surprising number of sites and apps (Business Insider being one of the largest)… experienced a major disruption in its S3 product that lasted several hours… Amazon gave a detailed postmortem on Thursday… blaming an employee “…who entered an input command incorrectly…” causing a larger set of servers than was expected to be removed from service…

The difference between mediocrity and excellence is… ATTENTION TO DETAIL… apparently Amazon Web Services is not as excellent as they would have users believe…

– – – – – – – – – –

On the Lighter Side… Because Sometimes You Just Gotta Laugh…

My take on the ‘Presidential’ speech…

What I heard from Trump in his speech to Congress was what K-tel could market as “…a greatest-hits compilation of campaign promises he has no earthly way to keep…” with the memorable selections… Dying Industries Will Come Roaring Back to Life… Gleaming New Roads, Bridges and Airports Will Magically Materialize and let’s not forget his Top-10 HitTerrorism, Crime, Poverty and Even Drug Addiction Will Cease to Plague Our Soon-to-be-great-again Land

Trump’s speech won praise for being ‘presidential’, but only from those grading him on an absurdly generous curve… like Mike Pence and Paul Ryan standing to applaud with self-serving grins from ear to ear at every slightest pause in the speech

What I didn’t hear was anything to reassure the nation that its fate is in competent hands.

If he wanted to… Trump could just declare victory now on all these fronts and then turn to other mattersbut that would require setting actual policy rather than just talking and tweeting

I do give Trump credit for one laugh-out-loud funny line: “The time for small thinking is over. The time for trivial fights is behind us.”

This high-minded sentiment came from a man who used his appearance at the National Prayer Breakfast to taunt Arnold Schwarzenegger about his ratings as Trump’s replacement on The Celebrity Apprentice.

– – – – –

You know they were all howling behind closed doors…

I’m talking about the statement made by Rep. Cedric Richmond (Dem-Louisiana)… a sexually crude joke that all the self-rightious folks (read that as Trump’s minions) regarding the now-notorious photo of Kellyanne Conway kneeling on an Oval Office sofaspraddle-legged and leaning forward

“I really just want to know what was going on there, because she really looked kind of familiar there in that position there. But don’t answer. And I don’t want you to refer back to the ’90s.”

We all know he’s referring to the Clinton/Lewinsky ‘incident’… and back then… Republicans got a good laugh… and I’m still laughing my ass off with that one…

A Small Island in Rovaniemi

A city and municipality of Finland. It is the administrative capital and commercial center of Finland’s northernmost province, Lapland. It is situated about 10km south of the Arctic Circle and is between the hills of Ounasvaara and Korkalovaara, at the confluence of the river Kemijoki and its tributary, the Ounasjoki.

Santa Cruz Del Islote

One of the smallest in the archipelago of San Bernardo off the coast of Colombia. It is only 2.4 acre in size, yet, it’s home to 1,200 people. That’s a population density four times that of Manhattan. But Santa Cruz del Islote is no Manhattan. There is no running water or sewage system. Electricity runs for just five hours a day from a generator, and fresh water is dropped off by the Colombian navy once every three weeks.

~ What I Watched This Week ~

– – – – – Movies – – – – –

Rules Don’t Apply ~ For a film written and directed by Warren Beatty it lacked something… other than making his role as Howard Hughes a secondary one it lacks direction wandering through a nostalgic look back at Hollywood during its heyday… I give it a watch at your own risk 5.6Q

Trespass Against Us ~ The quality of this film is what happens when you take 2 international actors… one Irish and one German… cast them as father and son… and try to get them to pull off a British ‘Celtenham backstreet’ accent… a complete disaster which couldn’t be salvaged by the otherwise decent storyline… I give ia a stroll on down to Abbey Road 4.25Q

Making History ~ Three friends from two different centuries try to balance the thrill of time travel with the historical concerns of their present-day lives… I liked it and I say it may corny but may actually catch on as a Slow-Rising HIT!!!

Time After Time ~ Based on the novel and the 1979 movie of the same name… the series concerns British author H.G. Wells and his fictional use of a time machine to pursue Jack the Ripper into the 20th century… only this time set in New York City instead of San Francisco… like the movie… I really liked the series but I think it will be a slow-rising semi-HIT at best…

It’s the Law!!!

France – It’s Legal To Marry A Dead Person

Yes, you read right. In France, you can legally marry your deceased lover as long as the Prime Minister grants you permission. To qualify for this peculiar matrimony, one must be able to prove that the corpse in question had every intention to marry them before their untimely death. If all goes as planned, the wedding ceremony will be accepted and the groom or bride-to-be will continue on like nothing ever happened.

During a posthumous wedding ceremony, there are certain kinks that need to be worked out. For one, the phrase, “I do” is changed to, “I did” and the line, “Till death do us part” is omitted from the ceremonial texts. This strange law was first enforced during the First World War, when many fiancées lost their loved ones on the battle field.

Apparently He Doesn’t Listen to His Own Words…

I was truly hoping that Donald Trump had finally heard the voice of the peopleall the peoplenot just his supporterscounselors and advisers… and would give me some glimmer of hope for the future of his ‘reign’ as president… but I was let down with a T-H-U-DA-G-A-I-N!!!

I didn’t think he was giving us the truth… the whole truth… and nothing but the TRUTH… so I turned to one of my more reliable sources for the facts… not his version of the ‘alternative facts’… as I hope he realizes were what his key points were…

According to the Associated Press’ evaluation of Trump’s first address to the Joint Session of Congress (even they aren’t calling it the ‘State of the Union Address’) the bottom line is: “Trump takes credit he hasn’t earned”… Here are a few contested key points…

Trump- “According to the National Academy of Sciences, our current immigration system costs America’s taxpayers many billions of dollars a year.”

Fact- That’s not exactly what that report says. It says immigrants “…contribute to government finances by paying taxes and add expenditures by consuming public services…”

Trump- “We’ve saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars by bringing down the price” of the F-35 jet fighter

Fact- The cost savings he persists in bragging about were secured in full or large part before he was elected.

Trump- “Since my election, Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, General Motors, Sprint, Softbank, Lockheed, Intel, Walmart and many others have announced that they will invest billions of dollars in the United States and will create tens of thousands of new American jobs.”

Fact- It’s highly unlikely Trump is the sole or even primary reason for the expected hiring he cites. Many of the announcements reflect corporate decisions that predate his election by as much as 6 months.

Trump- Says his budget plan will offer “…one of the largest increases in national defense spending in American history…

Fact- Three times in recent years, Congress raised defense budgets by larger percentages than the $54 billion, or 10% increase, that Trump proposes.

So to sum it up he lied about immigrantsAGAIN… he lied about saving taxpayers moneyAGAIN… he lied about creating jobsAGAIN… and worst of all he lied to our troops about getting them the money for better and improved equipmentAGAIN

To be fair… Trump did have one thing he didn’t lie about… sorta… he stated: “Ninety-four million Americans are out of the labor force.” and that my friends is truebut for the vast majority of themaccording to Labor Department datait’s because they choose to be

Of all this doesn’t make you mad as hell and get off your ass and do something… I don’t know what the fuck will

This is Appalling

Donald Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway has come under fire after a picture of her casually kneeling on a couch in the Oval Office was widely shared on social media… in an image captured by an AFP photographer… Conway appears on the couch with her shoes on as Trump poses for a photo with leaders of historically black colleges and universitiesWall Street Journal columnist Bret Stephens was among those taking aim at Conway… with several Twitter users berating her for what they described as a lack of respect in the Oval Office

And still his followers eat up his and her BULLSHIT… and most of the remainder of Americans sit on their asses and do nothing about it

PS- In her defense Conway stated: “I was very busy today and didn’t follow a lot of it, but I know there are a couple of reports at least showing what happened. And what happened is we had the largest gathering of men and women to date in the Oval Office for a picture. I was being asked to take a picture in a crowded room with the press behind us. I was asked to take a certain angle and was doing exactly that. I certainly meant no disrespect, I didn’t mean to have my feet on the couch.”

She has class doesn’t she… back in high school we would call the way she’s sitting a ‘Beaver Shot’and we all know what sort of girls sat like that… don’t we?!?

Excuse the fuck out of me… as can be seen in the photo there was plenty of room to move the sofa out of the way and place a chair so she could put her skinny narrow ass in it and have HER FEET ON THE FUCKING FLOOR!!!

She currently serves as Counselor to the President and should have knowledge of everything about the Oval Office… such as that it is considered ‘The White House Museum’… apparently she doesn’t know this… or is in the habit of putting her feet up on museum displays elsewhere… or worse yet… didn’t listen to her parents when they tried to teach her proper manners

This makes me sick… and is another example of why I don’t abide in EXCUSES…

Snippets Here and There…

Bannon’s influence may lead to ‘royal rumble’ with the Pope…

Steve Bannon disrupted American politics and helped elect Donald Trump as president… Will he disrupt the Roman Catholic Church by joining forces with right-wing Catholics who oppose Pope Francis? Bannon’s dark vision contrasts sharply with the sunny disposition of the Pope… Bannon believes “…the Judeo-Christian West is in a crisis…” He calls for a return of “…the church militant…” that will “…fight for our beliefs against this new barbarity…” that threatens to “…completely eradicate everything that we’ve been bequeathed over the last 2,000-2,500 years…”

What the fuck is with this man… hasn’t he ever heard of separation of Church and state

– – – – –

Trump could worsen a big problem in the housing market…

National Association of Realtors’ chief economist Lawrence Yun stated: The biggest hurdle is the fact that there aren’t enough homes. It’s widely known but less discussed that there are many undocumented workers at construction sites. And with the border being much tighter, it may lead to a greater construction worker shortage unless America can crank out people with the skills in construction, plumbing, lumber framing, and welding to work for the same wages as undocumented workers.”

Are Yun’s words loud enough to be heard… and if heard… how many will heed them

Air Force stumped by Trump’s scaim of $1 billion savings on jet…

The Air Force can’t account for $1 billion in savings that President Donald Trump said he’s negotiated for the program to develop, purchase and operate two new Boeing Co. jets to serve as Air Force One. Air Force spokesman Colonel Pat Ryder stated: “To my knowledge I have not been told that we have that information. I refer you to the White House.” A White House spokesman didn’t respond to repeated inquiries about Trump’s comments

Hmm… I wonder what other lies come out of Trump’s face

Seven Worlds for TRAPPIST-1

Seven worlds orbit the ultra-cool dwarf star TRAPPIST-1, a mere 40 light-years away. In May 2016 astronomers using the Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST) announced the discovery of three planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system, additional confirmations and discoveries by the Spitzer Space Telescope and supporting ESO ground-based telescopes have increased the number of known planets to seven. The TRAPPIST-1 planets are the largest treasure trove of terrestrial planets ever detected around a single star.

Visions of Travel

Thor’s Well

Sitting on the edge of the Oregon coast near Yachats at the edge of the Siuslaw National Forest, a gaping, seemingly bottomless sinkhole swallows the unbroken stream of seawater around it. But it is not bottomless. Also known as the drainpipe of the Pacific, the well is actually a hole in the rock that only appears to drain water from the ocean. In reality the huge hole is likely only around 20 feet deep. Even if the well is not quite as magic as it seems, it still manages to produce amazing sights (though not for the faint of heart!).

Huacachina Oasis

A desert oasis and tiny village just west of the city of Ica in southwestern Peru. At its center are the green waters of the Huacachina Lagoon, ringed by palm trees and thought to have therapeutic properties. The lagoon’s shores are dotted with bars and clubs centered by the Hotel El Huacachine resort.

Stabkirche Heddal

A stave church located at Heddal in Notodden municipality, Norway. The church is a triple nave stave church and is Norway’s largest stave church. It was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century. The story of the building of the church holds a special place in the hearts of the Norse people. There is a fairy tale-like legend telling how five farmers built the church in three days.

Bleed for This ~ Based on a true story it starts out like a traditional underdog-fighter-makes-good flick then pivots and becomes something else… then goes back to being traditional… the film excels in its portrayal of what it means to be injured… but the star has major problems… I give it a Miles Teller is never wholly credible as the hero 6.75Q

Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk ~ This different ‘coming-of-age’ approach to trying to tell the satirical story of the film’s originating novel falls short with wishful imaginings of incidents that in all reality would probably never happen in this lifetime… I give it a weak-as-hell attempt at moralizing war 4.5Q

Bad Santa 2 ~ Bad Santa at his best trash-mouthed wise-cracking ne’er-do-well… again joined with Elf and Thurman with the addition of Momma Santa… crazy… whacky… and totally disrespectful of Christmas… again… I give it a Must See if you saw the original… laughed my ass off 10Q

Collide ~ Okay… what presented itself as an acceptable movie in the trailers… wasn’t… so I took another one for the team by watching this rather mediocre film that could have been great… even with Sirs Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley on opposite sides of the good vs evil fence… I give it a watch at your own risk 5Q

Here’s a little something special for you I learned at Ann & Nancy’s birthday dinner from Chef Steve… we had the dinner at Carve Steakhouse in the Eastside Cannery Hotel… after dinner he and I had a chance to share some ideas on food… I had told him about making the Bacon-wrapped Cheeseburger Meatloaf… he suggested I try this for my next burger…

Take some Bratwurst links and remove the meat from the casing (I used a package of 5)… make your basic burger mix with the spices and additives you like… I used Panko breadcrumbs… some seasoned salt and 1 egg… I separated the mix into 3 large meatballs… placing each meatball in a sheet of wax paper I pressed them into a patty about ½“ thick… then into the fridge until I was ready to cook them…

I then grilled them in my Nuwave counter-top oven for 7-minutes per side… they were so good… and for being a pork product… extremely lean… yet juicy… you really should give it a try… Brat Lover or NOT!!!

Mexico Fumes Over Trump Immigration Rules as US Talks Loom

Trump’s administration on Tuesday (February 22) unveiled plans to consider almost all illegal immigrants subject to deportation and will seek to send many of them to Mexico if they entered the United States from there… regardless of their nationality… The Department of Homeland Security guidance to immigration agents is part of a broader border security and immigration enforcement plan in executive orders that Trump signed on January 25

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly are due to arrive in Mexico on March 1 for talks on security and immigration… Mexico’s lead negotiator with the Trump administration… Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray… said “…there was no way Mexico would accept the new ‘unilateral’ rules… which among other things seek to deport non-Mexicans to Mexico… we will not accept it because there’s no reason why we should and because it is not in the best interests of Mexico…”

Why am I so infuriated by this… one simple provision of the plan… “…regardless of their nationality…” What the fuck is that all about?!? What kind of a pea-brain thinks up shit like this… I can assure you that it’s not one thinking about the long-term effects this could have on the future of our relations with Mexico… what is this knucklehead thinking… does he want another ‘Alamo’?!?

Any one who still thinks… “…this is our guy… the guy will will make America great again…” is as much of a fool as he is… what has he done since taking office that has made America great againNOT ONE FUCKING THING!!! unless of course you are one of his staunchestbigotedracistmisogynisticbully supporters… then the man is a god…

But he is not my God… my God is The Holy TrinityAllahBudhaYahwehShiva… or any of the many other names God is called by any of the major religions of the world… the God who promotes peace and harmony… not animositybullyingpetty jealousymisogynyracism… and acting like a spoiled brat obsessed over winning the presidency but not being popular

Doesn’t that make you wonder if he really wanted to become President of the United States… or did he just want to be able to get in front of Americans and toot his own horn… he convinced enough small-minded people to believe in him then… and many still do… but what pisses him off most now is that his ‘popularity numbers’ in any given poll… on any given daykeep plummeting to the basement

If you aren’t writing to your elected officials on at least a weekly basis to remove The Donald from office… then you do not want to make America great againit’s that fucking simple

– – – – – – – – – –

Trump’s Tax Plan is Built On One of the Biggest Lies Our Parents Ever Told Us About the Economy

This is very simple: The idea that “…tax cuts pay for themselves…” is falsebut it is persistent… having been firmly planted in the political discourse by supply-side economists decades ago (1920s) and becoming all the rage during the Reagan administration… and it’s coming back in force with Donald Trump’s tax plan

Supply-side economists argue that tax cuts spur economic growth and that the growth offsets any increased deficit resulting from the government taking in less revenue… and this macroeconomic theory argues economic growth can be most effectively created by investing in capital and by lowering barriers on the production of goods and services

BULLSHIT!!! Here are some cold hard facts taken from America’s Economic Historythey cannot be disputed… they are actual facts and not ‘alternative facts’ as almost everything coming out of the Trump administration is so far…

Supply-side economics is macroeconomic theory (keep in mind that theories are not proven facts) dealing predominantly with the ‘big picture’ and not specifics

The 1917-1920 federal income tax rate was 67-77% (WW-I was expensive)…

After the war federal income tax rates dropped to 25% from 1925-1931 right into the Wall Street Crash of 1929

The Roaring Twenties was a time of wealth and excess due to supply-side economics in the ever-growing expansion of America’s industrial sectorthe overproduction of agricultural produce created widespread financial despair among American farmers throughout the decade… these would later be blamed as the key factors that led to the 1929 stock market crash

Congress claimed those early 1920 tax cuts they created would increase tax revenuethis did not occurincome tax revenue did not reach even close to 1920 levels until tax rates were returned to pre-1920 levels in 1941

The attempt at supply-side economics was tried in later presidencies… it didn’t work that way for Ronald Reagan or for George W. Bush 20 years later… both of those presidential eras presided over an expansion of the federal government and its increasing budget deficit barely managing to close loopholes

Now for Trump’s high hopes at making it work comes into play… his plan is based heavily on Reagan and GW Bush’s plans using an old trick called ‘dynamic scoring’ which accounts for imagined future revenue to pretend that some growth down the line will close any gaps created by a budget… and if that doesn’t work… it also allows for planners to assume a future Congress will fix things

It didn’t work for Reagan… it didn’t work for GW Bush and it’s NOT GOING TO FUCKING WORK for Trump

So what makes me so furious with this issue… the same as with most… Americans are eating up the Trump Administration’s bullshit with serving spoonsand telling us all how good it tastesget a life America… no matter how much sugar and whipped cream you put on bullshit… it ain’t gonna taste any better… it’s still BULLSHIT!!!

Senator McCain (Rep, AZ) says Flynn resignation shows ‘dysfunction’ at the White House

In a written statement released hours after the retired Army lieutenant general resigned, McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, praised Flynn’s “…invaluable contributions in the fight against terrorism… at the same time, General Flynn’s resignation is a troubling indication of the dysfunction of the current national security apparatus…”

Another Red Team Senator who is not happy with ‘The Prez’… I wonder if ‘The Prez’ personally used his cliché phrase “You’re fired!” with Flynn… or if he sent some flunky to do his dirty work

Andy Puzder, President Trump’s embattled nominee for secretary of labor, has withdrawn his name from consideration

“After careful consideration and discussions with my family, I am withdrawing my nomination for Secretary of Labor… I am honored to have been considered by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Labor and put America’s workers and businesses back on a path to sustainable prosperity. I want to thank President Trump for his nomination.”

Why would Puzder withdraw the day before his Senate confirmation hearing was set to beginhere’s a hint… at least four GOP senators said they would definitely vote against Puzder’s confirmation… and maybe he didn’t want to give up his salary as chief executive of CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. fast-food chains

Seems to me like the love of money over-rode the desire to serve America best… oh wait… he does serve some pretty fine burgers… doesn’t he?!?

– – – – –

A message to Trump: Put the US on a sustainable path…

Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen, noting uncertainty in the US economic outlook, says the central bank still sees a ‘gradual pace of rate increases’ despite unknown fiscal policy. “It is too early to know what policy changes will be put in place or how their economic effects will unfold. While it is not my intention to opine on specific tax or spending proposals, I would point to the importance of improving the pace of longer-run economic growth and raising American living standards with policies aimed at improving productivity. I would also hope that fiscal policy changes will be consistent with putting US fiscal accounts on a sustainable trajectory.”

Do ya think the Big D is gonna listen to herI don’t!!!

Congress blocks rule barring mentally impaired from guns…

On a vote of 57-43 (looks like 7 on the Blue Team defected)… on the Senate backed the resolution… just one of several early steps by the Republican-led Congress to undo regulations implemented by former President Barack Obama.

The Obama rule would have prevented an estimated 75,000 people with mental disorders from being able to purchase a firearm… it was crafted as part of Obama’s efforts to strengthen the federal background check system in the wake of the 2012 massacre of 20 young students and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut

Sounds to me like some people don’t care about what nut-job runs rampant through a school… or a theater… or a military hospitalshooting up people

Even though she was later secreted into the school through a back entrance not accessible to protesters… she got a good taste of how parents treat people who bully their childrenor in this case their children’s educators

Way to go citizens of Washington, DC

Waging War Against an Imagined Foe…

Donald Trump’s latest attack on the media was riddled with blatant contradictions… he began his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference last Friday with a lengthy rant railing against what he dubbed the ‘fake news’after weeks of bad headlines Trump suggested the ‘dishonest media’ falsified stories about issues in his administration by using made-up sources

But only hours earlier Trump had denounced ‘leakers’ of ‘classified information’, implying that the sources were in factREAL

“And I want you all to know that we are fighting the fake news. It’s fake! Phony! Fake! A few days ago, I called the fake news the enemy of the people and they are. They are the enemy of the people because they have no sources. They just make them up when there are none.”

WTF?!? Is it fakeOR NOT?!?

You have to agree that these last 2 commentaries are hilarious as hell… if nothing else… Trump has given back to Americans something to laugh abouthis sorry ass!!!

M78 and Orion Dust Reflections

In the vast Orion Molecular Cloud complex, several bright blue nebulae are particularly apparent. Pictured here are two of the most prominent reflection nebulae. The more famous nebula is M78 (center) cataloged over 200 years ago. To its left is the lesser known NGC 2071. The Orion complex lies about 1500 light-years distant, contains the Orion and Horsehead nebulae and covers much of the constellation of Orion.

W5: The Soul of Star Formation

Where do stars form? Many times, stars form in energetic regions where gas and dark dust are pushed around in chaotic mayhem. Bright massive stars near the center of W5, the Soul Nebula, are exploding and emitting ionizing light and energetic winds. The image highlights the inner sanctum of W5, an arena spanning about 1,000 light-years that is rich in star forming pillars. The Soul Nebula, also cataloged as IC 1848, lies about 6,500 light-years away toward the constellation of the Queen of Aethopia (Cassiopeia).

Cathedral Rock Trails

A 1-mile out-and-back trail located near Sedona, Arizona that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking and trail running and is accessible year-round. At the trail head, the trail starts out through a small creek and can be slippery… I know… I ended up in the creek when I hiked it.

Shibuya Crossing

It’s hard to believe that in a mega metropolis like Tokyo, one of the biggest attraction is not a tower or a statue or a museum or a park, but a pedestrian crossing. The traffic intersection in itself is nothing spectacular, a ten-lane crossing in the middle of Tokyo’s fashionable shopping district surrounded by neon signs and giant billboards screaming with advertisements. But what happens once the traffic light turns red is worth seeing.

Killing Reagan ~ Tim Matheson captures the essence of the Reagan persona… a born performer whose public and private selves were so in sync that they became indistinguishable… someday there will be an engrossing cinematic portrait of Reagan that explores the man’s faults and merits with equal measure… this is not that film… I give it a lazy Sunday 6.5Q

Underworld: Blood Wars ~ Vampire death dealer Selene fights to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her… so basically it’s same old same old… this time with better graphics and action… I give it a 7.0Q

– – – – – New TV Series – – – – –

The Good Fight ~ The trials and tribulations of partner Diane Lockhart of the legal firm Stern, Lockhart and Gardner… and for me not as exciting and edgy as The Good Wife from which it was hatched… I say it will be a HIT… but not for me…

The Blacklist: Redemption ~ Covert operative Tom Keen joins forces with Susan ‘Scottie’ Hargrave… the brilliant and cunning chief of a covert mercenary organization that solves problems that are too dangerous for the government… with a taste of its ‘parent series’ and a bit of Misson Impossible-esque action… I think it will be a HIT in the footsteps of its origins…
